Years ago we got very frustrated with life in the big research company environment. Maybe as a client you’ve had the same frustration. Reports that tell you how you did…last month. Studies that tell you what you already knew. And big firms that operate like silos, with account managers on one floor and analysts elsewhere. Isn’t the job of research to shorten the distance between the consumer and you, the decision maker?

So our approach was to flip everything on its head. Have the account manager totally own the project – and get their hands into the data. Focus on your future, not on the past. Shorten the distance between the market and the marketer.

Along the way we found we could do this by investing heavily in new technology – arming ourselves with more ways to conduct and analyse research. It was the difference between being a builder armed only with a hammer – and being a craftsperson; armed with a full tool kit with chisels, planes and saws. So what do you need from your research supplier? Two planks nailed together? Or something more?
